The effect of astaxanthin on endurance performance in rats following short-term supplementation
Introduction Astaxanthin (ASX) is a carotenoid that is highly abundant in marine seafood, such as salmon or shrimp, and is responsible for their characteristic orange coloration. Previous studies have demonstrated that ASX exhibits a wide variety of biological activities including anti-stress and anti-oxidant functions. The purpose of this study is to determine, if any, the effect of ASX on endurance performance in rats following short-term supplementation.
