Water-management strategies at the Olympic rowing and canoeing venue Virgilio Uribe in Mexico City
Introduction In 1968, the Olympic Rowing Venue was built. The site consists of two channels with an average depth of 1.7 m, the principal channel measuring 2200 m length and 125 m width, whereas the side-channel measures 1200 x 30 m. Due to a lack of knowledge concerning maintenance of the site, the water quality had deteriorated. Cyanobacterial blooms and scum cover the site during parts of the year.
