Economic Analysis of Load Regulation Measures to Accept Wind Power

The intermittent nature and immature forecasting technology of wind power make difficult to consider wind power generation into the day-ahead generation scheduling, and bring out a considerable challenge to load regulation capability for the regional grid. The paper theoretically analyzes the power system load regulating capacity according to units security and system operation constraints.According to the requirement of system security, load regulation mode and capacity, electricity price of various forms of power generation, the paper proposes an approach to evaluate the economic cost for various load regulating measures with regard to electricity purchasing cost and fossil fuel consumption. The case study is carried out with a regional grid. The load regulation capacity is determined, and various regulating means, including deep regulation means, are analyzed and compared economically with the proposed approach based on unit operating characteristics and tie line power transfer agreement.Furthermore, according to the economic benefit ranking, the paper puts forward the suggestive regulation measures, which provides technical basis for drawing up the economic energy-saving scheduling for this regional grid.
