Determination of Optimal Size and Location of Distributed Generation for Loss Reduction in Radial Distribution System

This paper propose an analytical method and Genetic Algorithm (GA) to find optimal size and location of distributed generation (DG) in radial distribution system for minimizing total power loss.The proposed methods was tested and validated in IEEE 33 bus distribution test system and practical radial distribution system of Chinimarjan of Qazvin state of Iran.These studies have been for one and multiple DG simultaneously at various case and scenarios.Result show that the proper location and sizing of DG are important to reduce power losses.
