Extremum Seeking Control of Ill-Defined Exponential Process

Ill-defined exponential process appears as a result of target detection process. A target is detected when the power of input signal is higher than a prede.ned threshold. Unwanted clutter signal is omnipresent and causes false detections. The clutter signal has an ill de.ned probability density function of exponential type. Both the shape and the rms of the clutter signal can widely vary, and additionally the clutter signal is heavy tailed. This makes the control of detection threshold challenging. This paper considers Extremum Seeking control for an online adjustment of the detection threshold and illustrates that this paradigm is useful in this context.
