A electromechanical parts library for 3D-MID design
The new requirements of the CAD system for crossdomain mechatronic design especially 3D-MID design lead to an expansion of the information capacity for the development of an electronic parts library. In this paper, a methodology of creating a electronic/mechanical integrated, cross-domain, three-dimensional parts library for the design of Molded Interconnect Devices (3D-MID) is presented. This library is developed based on multiple views, 3D geometry modeling and STEP AP210 techniques to support not only the description of electronic information, but also the description of mechanical information. The library which is applied in the MIDCAD system can provide a remarkably improved support for an efficient design of complex 3D-MID products.
