User’s Behavior -based Creative Product Design Process
The purpose of this paper is to present a creative product design process (PDP) based on user’s behavior (UB) to product. Based on the interactive relationships between user and product, combining with three levels of useful, usable, and desirable using activity, our work explored the user’s behavioral characters, and then outlined the creative product design process based on these characters. Based on this new PDP, a series of designed creative cups were analyzed for exploring the highly inter-related relations between design creativity and user’s behavior. The results suggest that user’s behavior situates in different scenarios (always including six sorts) and involves a series of actions which operate the different parts of product according to time sequence. And the new PDP involves four phases of scenario building, behavioral process analyzing, unexpected needs discovering and structure realizing. These PDP are very useful for enhancing designers’ creative performances as well as enhancing users’ dynamic behavioral needs.
