Process Research on the Production of Renewable Liquid Fuel from Catalytic Cracking of Soybean Oil
Three types of processes of triglyceride cracking were studied including batch reactor process, rotating cone reactor process and distillation apparatus process. Several kinds of catalysts were compared. It was found that the fraction distribution of product was modified by using the basic catalyst such as Na2CO3 and distillation apparatus process. The product were analyzed by FI-IR and GC-MS. The results showed the main components were alkanes, alkenes and carboxylic acids. The cracking products with low average molecular weight and similar physical and chemical properties are comparable to those specified for petroleum based fuels.
