Study on Pentose Production from Bamboo (Sinocalamus affinis) Chippings by Dilute Sulfuric Acid Hydrolysis
At present, large portion of furfural production is produced by 1-step acidic hydrolysis process, with some disadvantages such as low furfural yield and low utilization efficiency of raw material. To improve comprehensive utilization of lignocellusic biomass, combined with two-stage hydrolysis process, 2-step acidic hydrolysis process was developed and the waste solids from production of furfural could be further used for productions of bio-ethanol and derivatives of lignin. And while bamboo stalk chipping and compression in the wood house for pulping purpose, large portion of the outer and the inner of bamboo clippings was screened out, which was used for hydrolysis in our study. In this paper, we mainly study the different hydrolysis conditions of pentose producing. The variable parameters were the size of the material, the reaction temperature, the concentration of dilute sulfuric acid, the solid-liquid ratio and the reaction time. Besides, to study the optimization conditions of pentose production, we also make a visual and variance analysis according to orthogonal experiment. As a result, at the conditions of 120-140 mesh, solid-liquid ratio 1:10, reaction temperature 115, reaction time 3h ℃ and concentration of sulfuric acid 4%, the maximum pentose yield that can be obtained is 67.20% and pentosan convention yield is 71.31%.
