Effect of Green Liquor Pretreatment on the Enzymatic Hydrolysis of Cotton Stalks
The effect of green liquor pretreatment on enzymatic saccharification of cotton stalks was investigated. The lignin removal increased with the TTA (Total Titration Alkali) charge, pretreatment temperature and sulfidity. Around half of lignin in cotton stalks was removed while cotton stalks was pretreated by GL under a condition of TTA charge 16% and sulfidity 32% at 140℃ for 1 hr. An enzyme cocktail which composed of cellulase, xylanase and β-glucosidase was used for the enzymatic hydrolysis of GL pretreated pulp to evaluate the improvement of enzymatic saccharificaiton. The conversion ratio of glucan, xylan and total sugar in cotton stalks pretreated by 16% TTA and sulfidity 32% at 120℃ reached up to 74.0%, 61.3%, and 68.5%, respectively, while cellulase loading was 20 FPU/g substrates. The result showed that, increasing the pretreatment TTA charge, sulfidity and cellulase charge can promote the sugar conversion efficiency.
