Generation and Transition of Liquefied Products from Cellulose in Phenol
The generation and transition of liquefied products from cellulose in phenol were investigated using GC/MS and FTIR. Results showed that the liquefaction of the cellulose in the presence of phenol with acid catalyst is equated the process of the degraded of cellulose essentially. The chemical composition of the liquefaction products produced using catalyst or not was almost identical, and the majority of the identified liquefaction products were methylene bisphenol and its isomers. From the FTIR, The process of liquefaction of cellulose under H2SO4 catalytic in the presence of phenol actually is the process of degradation of the cellulose. The small molecule matter from the degradation reacted with phenol and intermediate products with phenolic properties appeared.
