Preparation of (-)-Abietic Acid from Mason Pine Pitch and Its Bioactivity
Abietic acid was obtained by isomerization reaction from Mason pine pitch at 82.3% yield and as high as 99.15% purity. This method has some advantages of higher yield and purity, more friendly environment and lower cost than the one of Amine Salt. Its structure was verified by FT-IR、1H NMR、13C NMR、13C NMR -DEPT、MS and Single-crystal X-ray Diffraction. The prepared sodium abietate is reactive in ethanol and was applied in Antimicrobial test (ATCC43504 H. pylori) in which MIC is 32 μg/mL. The result is worse than Amoxicillin, but 4 times better than Metronidazole.
