Study on Technology of Furfural Preparation from Cornstalk Pentose Solution
Furfural is an important chemical material and widely used in many fields such as petroleum refining, petrochemical industry, pharmaceuticals industry, food industry synthetic rubber and synthetic resin. The technology of producing furfural from the pentose solution of cornstalk using SO42-/ZrO2-TiO2 solid acid as catalyst were investigated in this paper. The effects of various factors (reaction temperature and time, catalyst concentration and the conditions of solid acid preparation) on the yield of furfural during production of furfural from hydrolysis of cornstalk pentose solution were clarified. And the solid acid was characterized by FT-IR. The optimized conditions are as follows: the concentration of sulfuric acid of 0.8mol/L,the impregnated time of 24h, the burning temperature of 1000 ℃; the amount of solid acid catalyst of 3.5%, reaction time of 2 h, reaction temperature of 130 ℃. The highest yield of furfural reaches 7.23%.
