Synthesis and Characterization of Bornylene-sulfurdioxide Polysulfone Resin
α-pinene as the raw material reacted with dried chlorine hydride gas to obtain bornyl chloride, in which was synthesized bornylene(Be) by potassium tert-butoxide as catalyst. Bornylene-sulfur dioxide (Be-SO2) polysulfone resin was synthesized by free radical polymerization in cyclohexanone. The effects of the mole feed ratio, reaction temperature and reaction time on the yield of Be-SO2 polysulfone resin in polymerization process were investigated. Be-SO2 polysulfone resin was characterized by FT -IR, GPC, DSC, SA and SEM.The results showed that the optimal conditions for the polymerization are as folows: the mole feed ratio in polymerization process was n (Be) : n (SO2)=1 : 2; reaction temperature was at -20 ℃. A black solid powder was obtained in this process, and its weight average molecular weight (Mw) is 1069 Da, polydispersity index (PDI) Mw/Mn is 2.84. Based on the research of synthesis Be-SO2 polysulfone resin, Be-SO2-Ma polysulfone resin was synthesized via bornylene, SO2 and maleic anhydride (Ma).Be-SO2-St polysulfone resin was synthesized via bornylene, SO2 and styrene (St) as well. Be-SO2-Ma polysulfone resin is dark brown solid powder, the Mw is 1576 Da, PDI Mw/Mn is 3.91. Be-SO2-St polysulfone resin is tan solid powder, the Mw is 33054 Da, PDI Mw/Mn is 35.7.
