Extracted Hemicelluloses from Bagasse by Dilute Sulfite Acid

The pre-extraction of bagasse to the fermentable sugar by dilute sulfite acid was investigated in this paper. The hydrolysate analysis method of DNS and IC was introduced, and pH value of the solution was detected. The optimal pre-treament condition of the dilute sulfite acid was studied by varying treatment temperature (viz. 80℃, 100℃, 120℃ and 140℃) and duration time. The results showed that the hemicellulose extraction was higher when the treatment temperature and extending time increased, and pH value dropped gradually. The optimal operation condition is 120min duration time at treatment temperature of 120℃. Under this condition the xylose concentration can reach 18.1 g L-1, glucose concentration can reach 1.63 g L-1, and arabinose and galactose concentration is 1.97 g L-1 and 0.59 g L-1, respectively.
