VAPOR PRESSURE MEASUREMENT OF THE 1,3-DIMETHYLIMIDAZOLIUM TETRAFLUOROBORATE AQUEOUS SOLUTION
This paper presents the vapor pressure measurement of the 1,3-dimethylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (DMImBF4) aqueous solution using the boiling-point method, in the temperature range of (312.25 to 403.60)K and in the concentration range of (65.0 to 90.0) mass % of ionic liquid. The calibration of the apparatus was carried out by measuring the vapor pressure of pure water and NaCl aqueous solution comparing with the values obtained from literature. The average absolute relative deviations for pressure are 0.41 % and 0.57 %, respectively. The experimental datas of the 1,3-dimethylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (DMImBF4) aqueous solution were correlated with an Antoine-type equation and the NRTL equation respectively. The resulting average absolute relative deviations (ARD) between the experimental and calculated values were found to be 1.06 % and 1.15 % for the two equations, respectively. For H2O/DMImBF4 system, compared with calculated datas with Raoult’s law, the experimental vapor pressures of the solution show negative deviation. The mass concentration of the IL is higher, the negative deviation compared with Raoult’s law is larger.
