XRD AND XRF ANALYSIS OF SOME MEDICINAL PLANT READILY AVAILABLE IN NORTH EASTERN REGION OF INDIA

The trace elements have some correlation with medicinal properties of plant. Looking into the effect of trace element in man and animal and use of plants as medicinal plants, trace element profile of some medicinal plants are determined. The trace element Mn, Zn, Ca, Si, S, Cl, K, Sr, P, Si, Al, Rh, Ba, Mg, Fe, Rb etc. were determined for the medicinal plant ‘Night zesmine’, ‘Indian pennywort’, ‘Sprout leaf’ and ‘Leucas aspera spreng (Doron sak)’. The variation of intensity of these trace elements have been observed in different temperature and the significance is critically discuss with reference to such plants. The crysallinity of these medicinal plants are studied by X-ray diffraction method. It is found that all the plant shows similar crystalline structure. The peak Intensity of Night Zesmine at 2θ=26° is highest than the other three plants. The peak intensity for all the plants changes due to heat treatment. It is observed that the peak intensity is found highest at 2θ=26° for ‘Night Zesmine’, ‘Sprout leaf’ and ‘Leucas aspera spreng’, but for ‘Indian pennywort’ the peak intensity is found highest at 2θ=22°.
