DISCUSSION ON DUAL-SOURCE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM

The dual-source air conditioning system (DSACS) based on distributed energy resources (DER) can perform heating or cooling independently. Besides the advantages of DER, DSACS can avoid the problem of interconnecting with public power grid and the restriction among several products such as heating capacity, cooling capacity and electricity. In addition, it attenuates the situation of inadequate electric power supply and relatively redundant gas supply in summer. DSACS is composed of prime mover, electrical air conditioning system and waste heat recovery equipments, etc. So there are different types of DSACS, such as boiler-steam turbine DSACS, internal combustion engine DSACS, gas turbine DSACS, micro gas turbine DSACS, gas-steam combined cycle DSACS or air-source heat pump DSACS, ground-source heat pump DSACS, water-source heat pump DSACS, etc. The coefficients of heating/cooling supply namely primary energy ratios of DSACS are higher than those of traditional heating and cooling systems. The annual energy saving ratios of DSACS compared to ground-source heat pump and direct-fired lithium bromide absorption chiller/heater are 23.7% and 37.6%, respectively. Consequently, DSACS is a valuable and remarkable energy saving system.
