DEVELOPMENT OF A REFERENCE LASER FLASH APPARATUS FOR THE THERMAL DIFFUSIVITY MEASUREMENT OF LIQUIDS
The accurate knowledge of the thermal transport properties of substances in liquid state as a function of temperature is essential in many industrial fields (metallurgy, plastics engineering, chemistry, automotive and food industries…), in order to control and optimize their manufacturing processes (injection of polymers, processing of gels…). As National Metrology Institute (NMI), LNE has developed a high accurate facility for measuring the thermal diffusivity of solid materials with reliable uncertainties. This reference diffusivimeter, which has been used so far to study the homogeneous and multilayered materials in a large temperature range (up to 1400℃) by laser flash method, is currently being set up to the measurement of thermal diffusivity of liquids (including biofuels).
