An Experimental Study on Viscosity and Surface Tension of Nano-lubricant and Nano-refrigerant

Four kinds of nano-lubricants were prepared by adding TiO2, Al, CuO, and CNT(Carbon Nanotube) nanoparticles into the base mineral oil. Their viscosity and surface tension in different particle concentrations were measured. The result indicated that the viscosities of nano-lubricants increased with the increasing particle concentrations. But the surface tension decreased firstly and increased afterward with the increasing particle concentrations. TiO2/R123 nano-refrigerant was prepared and the surface tension was measured in different particles concentrations too. The trend of the surface tension changing was the same as the nano-lubricants. The above results showed that the nanoparticles can considerably change the properties of the base lubricant and refrigerant. It should be paid more attentions on the fundamental properties researches for the applications of nano-lubricant and nano-refrigerant.
