A NOVEL GLOBAL OPTIMIZATION USING DOUBLE INTERPOLATION AND EXTRAPOLATION FOR HEAT EXCHANGER NETWORKS

As to the heat exchanger network optimization prob-lem (MINLP) features: non-convex, multi-extremum, double extrapolation interpolation is proposed and ap-plied to heat exchanger network optimization to get the best network structure in this paper. The comprehensive cost is considered as objective function, which is consist of cost of heat exchanger areas, fixed investment and util-ities of heat exchanger networks, heat exchanger areas as the optimization variables. Firstly, the objective function was minimized to get the current optimal network struc-tureⅠ, with local optimization method. Secondly, the structureⅠ was set as the initial structure of application of interpolation and extrapolation method to jump out of the minimum to get better structureⅡ under this stage, and then, with the structureⅡ as the initial point, it was minimized to get the another optimal network structure…, so the process of minimizing and crossing went on a one-way alternating sequence. Finally, the optimal solution could be found. A heat exchanger network for a system of three heat streams and two cold streams was tested for its correctness and rationality, and the result near global so-lution could be obtained. The results showed that the process of optimization with double interpolation and extrapolation can jump out of the local minimum points, find better heat exchanger network structure to make less comprehensive cost.
