NOVEL AND SIMPLE SONAR GAS ANALYZERS
We present new developments dealing with specific applications of a sonar analyzer that is described in detail. Three flavors of the equipment were adopted for speed of sound measurements in the gas phase with sonar electronics developed aimed at expanding the use of the device, not only for sound velocity measurements in various single gases and vapors, but also as a combined binary gas mixture analyzer and flow metering device. In the near future we will extensively use the device to analyse the following fluids and mixtures: R218 (C3F8), R116 (C2F6) and the mixtures R218/N2 and R218/R116. A theoretically-based PC SAFT equation of state is used to predict expected values of the speed of sound and other thermophysical properties for the fluids under investigation.
