HIGH PRECISION SPECIFIC HEAT DETERMINATION AT HIGH TEMPERATURE: INTRODUCTION OF A NEW 3D DSC DETECTOR
For modern advanced materials, the measurement of heat capacity is becoming necessary to precisely determine their physical and engineering properties. A new symmetrical 3-D Cp rod was designed for precise Cp measurement on high temperature materials, such as ceramics, glasses, alloys, which was generally difficult with the ordinary plate-type DSC sensors. Thanks to the Calvet principle detector, it is possible to provide high sensitivity in whole temperature range and to use large volume sample for the test, which will greatly reduce the measurement uncertainty from the low sensitivity and blank baseline drift in common DSC systems. The heat capacity experimental value by the new Cp rod was shown by sapphire and iron sample, with a precision better than 2%.
