Assessing Ambiguity in Power Performance Testing Standards
The necessity of wind turbine generator (WTG) power performance testing is becoming more and more understood by developers, investors and WTG manufacturers who wish to secure the value of their assets. The benefits of performing a power performance test include:· Fulfilling warranty obligation · Improving prospects for project refinancing ·Early identification of site specific problems ·Allows wind farm performance to be monitored throughout lifetime. This paper will discuss the current international standards for power performance testing, highlighting areas of notable ambiguity and uncertainty which are often found at the route of disputes and contention. Practical solutions will then be offered to help mitigate these issues at a contractual level and throughout the development of the power performance test.
