The Socio-economic Benefits on Returning Farm Land to Forestry in Northern Shaanxi
Retuming Farm Land to Forestry Project is the biggest Ecological Engineering in China, which brings up great economic and social performance to the afforested Area. This article analyzed the socio-economic performance between Zhidan County and Zizhou County in Northem Shaanxi province before and after Returning Land for Farming to Forestry, studied the impacts of Retuming Land for Farming to Forest on grain output, agriculture output value, and forestry output value, grassland farming output value and their constituent ratios, and per capita income. At the same time, it analyzed social performance from labour force transferring and annual consumption expenditure of peasant household; and compared the above changes between two counties, provided suggestions on how to maintain the achievements of Returning Farm Land to Forestry and regional development to two counties and assured healthy development of Establishing Returning Farm Land to Forestry Project.
