Fractal Dimensions of Soil Structure and Their Relationships with Soil Anti-erodibility under Different Land Use Patterns

With the fractal theory and effect function analysis, soil structure fractal features and the relationship between soil structure fractal features and soil anti-erodibility were studied under different land use patterns of hilly region in western Sichuan. The results showed that fractal dimensions of mechanical composition were greater than that of microaggregates, and fractal dimensions of water-stable aggregates were greater than that of dry aggregates as well. Soil anti-erodibility of Chinese fir plantation, eucalyptus plantation, loquat orchard and tea plantation was stronger than that of abandoned farmland. The soil anti-erodibility could be characterized by fractal dimensions of water-stable aggregates, fractal dimensions of dry aggregates and fractal dimensions of mechanical composition ideally, but there were significant difference among them. Soil anti-erodibility was not obviously influenced by fractal dimensions of microaggregates. The results would provide a new method and a new scale for the studying of soil anti-erodibility.
