Study on the Distribution Characteristics and Soil Organic Carbon Storage of Soil Aggregates on Rehabilitated Fields
The distribution characteristics of soil aggregates on rehabilitated fields in westem Sichuan and the organic carbon contents in soil aggregates were studied by the combinative means of field investigation and laboratory analysis. The results showed that all rehabilitated fields were dominated by those with the diameter of larger than 5mm or between 2 and 5mm. In addition, the proportions of aggregates with the diameter less than Imm were both higher in forests or tea plantations than those in abandoned farmland. As the size of aggregates diminished, the organic carbon content of the soil aggregates in tea plantations increased after a decrease, and then reduced again. Besides, the organic carbon contents of soil aggregates in eucalyptus plantations and in abandoned farmland both increased continuously with the decreasing size of aggregates. As the particle sizes decreased, the organic carbon storage of soil aggregates in these rehabilitated fields increased after a decrease, and then rose again. Moreover, the storages in tea plantations were absolutely higher than those in eucalyptus plantations. Except for the aggregates which were larger than 5 mm by size, the organic carbon stocks in rehabilitated fields were all lower than the abandoned farmland, and their contributing rates to the total organic carbon in soil varied.
