Design and Implementation of Regional LS Factor Computing Tool Based on GIS and Array Operation
It was very difficult in estimating LS factor at regional landscape scales. A series of ARC/INFO AML program was created that can calculate LS factor for the RUSLE, however the program need a very long time to run in wide-ranging areas. In order to increase the efficiency of application in regional soil and water erosion, Van Remortel design command-line C++program. But this C++program still has problems, mainly including: (l) Some original AML program functions are not achieved, so results are different. (2) Using USLE to calculate LS factor that do not adapt to the erosion environment of China. (3) There isnt a friendly graphic user interface. This paper describes a tool called Regional LS Factor Computing Too1 (RgLSC) which developed by C#.Net 2008. RgLSC provides besides basic GIS functions, revised original LS process, and used ASCIl-DEM file as input-data, a forward-and-reverse algorithm instead of original accumulative slope length algorithm and CSLE as soil erosion equation. RgLSC has been tested in Xiannangou catchment, Loess plateau China, LS factor values are approach those generated by the original AML. It was also determined that the speed of the computer runs could be significantly increased without sacrificing accuracy by performing the tool outside the ARC/INFO environment.
