Comparison of Ecological significance of landscape diversity changes in karst mountains
In this paper, the spatial distribution of landscape diversity index in four typical karst sites in Guizhou Province such as Wangjiazhai, Houzhaihe, Huajiang and Maolan were analyzed by using of high resolution aerial photos and satellite images of 1963 and 2004 through 20m x 20m grid unit. The results show that: (1) In the Maolan, Houzhaihe and Huajiang, the landscape diversity index value declined with increasing distance from the settlements. But in Wangjiazhai the landscape diversity index value decreased first, then increased in 1963, and increased first then decreased in 2004 with increasing distance from the settlements respectively. (2) The changes of diversity in study sites cant simple directly contact with ecological change being better or worse. In the Maolan, Houzhaihe, the reduce of the diversity index showed that in fact, the eco-environment was moderately recovered. At the same time, in the Huajiang, the increased diversity index shown that vegetation recovered slightly in this region, but in Wangjiazhai area, the increase of the diversity in some areas also shown ecological restoration.
