Relationship between allelopathy and growth performance on wheat cultivars in heading period
In the present study, based on tissue culturing test, allelopathy in four wheat cultivars in heading period on the Loess Plateau of China was investigated; meanwhile, relationship among allelopathic expression and growth performance like fluorescence kinetics was discussed. Plant height, spike length, flag leaf area and stem diameter increased with the breeding history from No I Bima, No 3 Fengchan, No Ningdong to No 22 Xiaoyan. Similar change occurred to allelopathic potential. Meanwhile, the maximal fluorescence yield increased gradually during evolutional history, as well as Fm、 F、 and Y(NO). Contrarily, NPQ and qN decreased significantly. Based regression analyses, significant relationship among growth traits, florescence kinetics and allelopathic potential was discovered. So three kinds of parameters like agronomic traits, chlorophyll florescence and allelopathic potential of winter wheat in heading period formed a complex network system. It will implement whole adaptation and system synergism in wheat, which was induced by natural selection and artificial breeding. Therefore, allelopathy variation in wheat was probably determined and regulated by the presumed net system. It is important in screening and breeding allelopathic crops cultivars, including developing sustainable agriculture.
