Preliminary study on ephemeral gully erosion in hilly area of Loess Plateau by scouring experiment
Studying on hydrodynamic of erosion process was the base of erosion process simulation model. Adaptability of erosion calculation physical equations based on shear stress, stream power and unit stream power in ephemeral gully erosion had been tested by scouring experiments. At the same time, the impact of tillage on ephemeral gully erosion was preliminarily studied, because that tillage was very important in ephemeral gully erosion. The result showed that: Above mentioned erosion physical equations were not suitable for ephemeral gully erosion in the Loess Plateau; Under the same condition, flow velocity, Froude number and sediment concentration of ephemeral gully flow increased, but Reynolds Number, flow shear stress and stream power decreased. all because of tillage. Transformation process of ephemeral gully erosion with time was significantly changed by tillage; The process of ephemeral gully erosion increased significantly because of tillage. Sediment concentration changed with time was significant logarithmic relationship with tillage, but fluctuation with no-tillage; Erosion amounts of ephemeral gully erosion increased because of tillage, and the increased erosion amounts by tillage could be accounted for more than 25% of annual ephemeral gully erosion. The conclusions can provide theoretical support for establishing and perfecting slope erosion process physical models.
