Micro-Scale Surface Topography of Hoe-Farming Sloping Field
In order to illustrated more about the mechanism of soil erosion, especially the surface erosion process of hoe-farming sloping field, the 1×2 m2 plots micro-scale surface topography was scanned with the help of laser scanner at a sub-centimeter scale under the condition of artificial simulated rainfall experiments with net rainfall intensity of 60 mm/h. Digital elevation models (DEMs) were established subsequently with a spatial resolution of 2x2 mm based on GIS technology. Furthermore, micro-scale surface topography characteristics such as micro-slope, micro-aspect, surface profiles, etc. were computed. The result shows that: 1 ) the distribution pattern of soil plough layer was disturbed under a tillage of hoe-farming, which resulted in obvious surface heterogeneity; 2) micro-slope and micro-aspect were two highly dynamic relevant properties of the soil surface. which had notable influence on governing surface runoff and erosion processes; 3) spatial scale of experiment plots had remarkable influenced on surface profiles. and more smaller-scale plots played relatively important roles; Finally, there was a significant liner relationship between the change of micro-slope spectrum and erosion amount. The research of micro-scale surface topography was useful to assess erosion capacity at the sloping field scale, and can provide useable information for the mechanism of soil erosion.
