Configuration of Soil and Water Conservation Tillage Technology Based on Farmin System Regionalization of the Loess Plateau

Loess plateau region is the important dry-farming agricultural area in the northern part of China, but soil and water loss during the process of agricultural production is greatly serious. Therefore, research of soil and water conservation tillage technology is needed based on the study of the farming system regionalization. In this paper, the farming system regionalization was conducted with the theory of agricultural regionalization as the guide. Heat, water conditions and landforms as the regionalization indexes, the loess plateau region was regionalized into ten regions on the county level. The naming type was location-landforms-dry/irrigated farming-cropping system. Ten regions were regionalized into four regions which were water erosion region, wind erosion region, low temperature region and wind-water erosion region, according to 1imiting factors of the agricultural production in each zone. intercropping, mixed cropping, relay cropping+straw returning for water erosion region; high stubble mulch+no-tillage+deep loosing tillage for wind erosion region; plastic film mulching (sandy field)+grass-crop rotation+no-tillage for low temperature region; straw mulch+level trench planting+no-tillage for wind-water region. Those technology configurations might provide scientific foundation for controlling soil and water loss and guiding the agricultural production in loess plateau region.
