Vulrnerablity Assessment of land Management Adaptation to Climate Change in Povertystrien Mountainous Area of Nanzhao County, Henan Province, China
The extreme weather events are the main risk factors in the land management in poverty-stricken mountainous areas. There are significant different vulnerability to climate change for different townships and farmers. also the different coping strategies. The vulnerability assessment according to the definition of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report was proposed and applied mainly in Nanzhao County, one of the national poverty counties. By discussing together with local experts, representatives of villagers and village leaders, we identify vulnerable groups, their vulnerability levels and the possible activities to reduce vulnerability. Vulnerability assessment helps us to find out the key problems in this area, drought most harmful, rainstorm and flood the next, and high temperature the third. Therefore, it is necessary to build small water conservancy, to provide with anti-drought crops or to train them anti-drought techniques and so on to reduce their vulnerability. Then, some sustainable land management activities of village-level planning adapting to climate change are put forward.
