Ecological risk mitigation and response in China southwestern karst region under global change: A case study in Guizhou province
China southwestern karst region is a typical ecological fragile region which marked by its seriously land degradation and underdeveloped economy. Currently, frequently occurrences of extreme weather and climate events in the region under global change, such as freezing and droughts, are causing huge socio-economical and ecological losses. Moreover, provinces in the region are accelerating their economic developing, and ecological restoration aimed at rehabilitating karst rocky desertification, therefore, it is of great significance to find ways to prevent or mitigate risks by those events. We analyze two extreme weather and climate events (freezing in 2008 and droughts in 2010) occurred in Guizhou province which is located at the center of the southwestern karst region; furthermore provide some countermeasures for preventing or mitigating ecological risks inducing by such events under global change.
