Popularization and Application of SWAT on Non-Point Pollution and Water Resources Management in China

Be developed by USDA-ARS, SWAT is a model that requires a diversity of information to run, but lack of data becomes a major obstacle that limit its application in China. Recent development of numerical calculation, GIS and remote sensing technology, and rain detection with radar promotes the development of the distributed watershed hydrological modeling, makes it possible to capture and manage a vast amount of data spatially distributed hydrological parameters and variables. From the application of SWAT in China, the objectives of this paper are attempt to sum up methods of building database and calculating parameters, and with various accuracy of input data effects on the simulation results to make it widespread in the relevant fields, which also provide convenience and reference on Non-Point Pollution and Water Resources Management in China.
