The vertical distribution of 7Be activity in soil profiles of different soil types
Beryllium-7 is an enwronmental radionuclide with a half life of 53.3 days, which is deposited continuously onto the earths surface as fallout. 7Be mostly distributed in soil surface layer. The objective of this study is based on experiment to explore the vertical distribution of 7Be in soil profiles. The results are as follows: The 7Be activity in soil profiles concentrated mostly in soil surface layer O-IOmm. The 7Be distribution with depth was characterized by an exponential decrease. The tendency to decrease of 7Be activity is greater in Loess soil profile than in purple soil profile and black soil profile. The depth distribution of 7Be was deeper in black soil because of its relatively lower bulk density and higher porosity than other soils.
