Effects of Different Land Use Types on Ecosysterm Service Value:A Case Study of Areas along the Huxian-Mianxian Section of Xian-Hangzhong Expressway in China

The construction of expressway results in the changes of the ecosystem service value via changing the land use types. Based on the method of global land ecosystem service value classification and evaluation first used by Costanza et al. (1997) and the research in China, the changes of ecosystem service value of different land use types were evaluated in Huxian-Mianxian section of Xian-Hanzhong expressway. The results showed that farmland, orchard, woodland and grassland were the four main land types and the area of the land types were 1116.41hm2. 6.84hm2. 125.21hm2 and 125.77 hm2. respectively before the expressway construction. For vegetation restoration and land reclamation. the area of the woodland and grassland have increased by 124.00% and 17.02%. respectively after the expressway construction. The construction of the Huxian-Mianxian section of Xian-Hanzhong expressway results in the ecosystem service value of farmland and orchard have disappeared. Among all kinds of ecological service functions. the increased value in decomposing wastes and climate adjustment were biggest with a rise of 12.07x104 RMB/y and 11.04x104 RMB/y than before due to the enlarged areas in woodland and grassland. From the view of the increased percentage of the ecological service value, the most substantial ones are climate adjustment, habitats and recreation. with a rise of 117.95%. 107.63%. 104.78%, respectively. The most decreased value in food supply was 42.96x104 RMB/y, followed by biological control and pollination, with 21.43x104 RMB/y and 10.21x104 RMB/y, respectively mianly due to the disappeared farmland and orchard. The most marked decreased percentages in all ecological service functions are 89.67% of biological controL 72.51% of food supply and 61.84% of pollination. In general, the sum of the ecosystem service value has a decreasing trend after the construction of the expressway, the total losses amounted to 37.16x104 RMB/y, the average per kilometer per year is 0.14x104 RMB.
