Investigation of Sandy Soil Water Availability Influenced by Superabsorbent Polymers

In order to research the ameliorating effect on Sandy Soil of Superabsorbent Polymer(SAP), with 3 kinds from domestic and foreign markets. Centrifuge method was used to measure Sandy Soil water characteristic curve under the different varieties and concentration. Soil moisture, soil absorbing capacity and efficiency, specific water capacities on different SAPs were analyzed systematicly. Results shows that:(1)SAPs ameliorated soil moisture noticeably, and the main action ranges was under 0.8MPa, especially under 0.05 MPa.(2)The main effecting range changed under different sorts and concentration of SAPs, but all the effects reduced with the increase of soil water potential.(3) The available water was analyzed, which proved that STOCKOSORBTM SAP was the best, and ACRYLATE SAP was the worst for Sandy soil.
