Forecasting on Current Runoff and Sediment Variation and Trend in the Yellow River Basin
Based on the fixed position observation data of hydrology and sediment of mainstream and its tributaries of the Upper and Middle Yellow River, and adopted Hydrology Method and Soil and Water Conservation Method, the runoff and sediment variation regimes in year 1997-2006 0f the Yellow River basin are analyzed and the future runoff and sediment variation trends are predicted in this paper The analysis shows that compared with the year before 1970, the measured annual runoff of the Yellow River reduces 11. 212 billion m3. thereinto. the effect of human activities such as soil and water conservation measures accounts for 77.1%. and the effct of rainfall reduction accounts for 22.9%. The measured annual sediment runoff reduces l.18 billion t, thereinto, the effect of human activities such as soil and water conservation measures accounts for 47.1%. and the effect of rainfall reduction accounts for 52.9%. The main body of sediment reduction of the Middle Yellow River area is still in the Hekouzhen-Longmen interval section. The incoming runoff and sediment of the Yellow River before year 2050 would be flat trending to low flow trend in general, but it can not exclude the possibility of occurring rich water and rich sediment in individual year or short period of time.
