Analysis of Spatial and Temporal Pattern Changes and Stability of Oasis in Xinjiang
Oasis is one of the unique landscapes in arid areas, and the stability of oasis ecosystems plays a crucial role in the rational development and utilization of water and soil resources, as well as the sustainable development of economy and society. Based on the data of five periods of 1950s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s in the last century and 2000, this paper makes a quantitative analysis on the spatial and temporal changes of the oasis in plain region of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and calculates the values of the stability indexes of oasis in each period using the method of landscape ecology. Through a comprehensive comparison of these indexes, it draws a conclusion that the oasis becomes more instable since the 1950s, and the most stable period of oasis is the 1950s of the last century, and the most instable is the 2000. Further it shows that the pattem of the oasis in the 1970s is more rationale, when the ratio of area of the artificial oasis and natural oasis is about 1.6, while 2.4 in 2000.
