Research on Land Use Changes and the Driving Force in the Small Watershed of Loess Plateau Hilly Gully Region
In the background of conversion of farmland to forest policy, this paper is trying to provide some effective decision support to the land using of fragile ecological environment of the Loess Plateau hilly-gully area. We chose the Luoyugou watershed which is located in Tianshui City, Gansu Province as the study area, interpreted the TM and SPOT image of Luoyugou watershed in 1986, 1995 and 2004 and combined with the measured data to calculate the single dynamic degrees of land-use, the integrated dynamic degree of land-use and land-use changing indexes, as well as the land-use type transition matrix. In addition, we used statistical methods to analyze quantitatively the driving force of the study area. The results show that: the conversion of slope farm land to the terrace and the forest Iand plays a dominant role in land use changes of Luoyugou watershed from 1986 to 2004, and this effect mainly takes place between 1986 and 1995. The land use changes are mainly driven by the population growth, socio-economic development, the consumers spending factor and the forestry ecological construction.
