Effect of different tillage measures on soil and water conservation of red soil region of Southern China
Transversal slope cultivation and Lateral slope cultivation and Weed clearing in garden are three common methods of cultivation in slope farmland of red soil region of Southern China. Studies on water detention and soil conservation benefits in three common methods for 5 years show that effects of different tillage measures on soil and water conservation are difference. Effect of lateral slope cultivation is optimal way, effect of transversal slope cultivation takes second place and effect of weed clearing in garden is worst. They are mainly embodied in the main flood season during April to September. Different growth cycle crop interplant selected, surface coverage increased, the main flood season avoided and the traditional farming methods changed can give full play to effect of tillage measures on soil and water conservation and protect land and water resources.
