An Experimental Study of Static Flow Excursion in a Two-Phase Natural Circulation System with Sub-cooled Boiling
In this paper, an experimental investigation of sub-cooled boiling flow instabilities in natural circulation system was performed under low-middle pressure with the same resistance arranged in different positions of the test section. The phenomenon of static flow excursion and friction pressure drop pulse are observed. Effects of experimental parameters and resistance positions on flow excursion are also discussed. It has been shown that flow excursion is a long period phenomenon which make the parameters of natural circulation system changed slowly. With the increase of system pressure, flow excursion and friction pressure drop pulse are suppressed. In addition, it is revealed that varied characteristics of friction pressure drop occurred with different resistance positions. During the process of flow excursion, it is also found that friction pressure drop pulse and dynamic oscillation alternate with the sustained growth of period and amplitude.
