Prediction Analysis of Turbine Trip/Load Rejection Transients in Lungmen Nuclear Power Plant Startup Tests with PCTRAN
Prediction analysis of turbine trip/load rejection transients for Lungmen Nuclear Power Plant startup tests have been successfully conducted using a fast, efficient simulation code, PCTRAN. Many prediction analyses with different system codes and different purposes are under investigation now. In this paper, we summarized the results of our investigations of turbine trip/load rejection transients using PCTRAN. Modeling of turbine trip and load rejection is essentially the same in PCTRAN. Comparisons of the predictions in neutron flux and flow rates from PCTRAN and TRACE are found in good agreements. Sensitivity studies of many relevant parameters, such as turbine bypass capacity and RIP runback time are also included. It is concluded that the design of large turbine bypass capacity has the capability of mitigating system responses in turbine trip/load rejection transient.
