Experimental Investigation of Periodic Dryout and Continuous Dryout in Vertical Channel under Oscillatory Flow Condition

The CHF experiments in vertical channel have been carried out with forced sinusoidal oscillation of inlet mass flux. Periodic dryout and continuous dryout were observed under oscillatory flow condition. The effects of oscillatory flow parameters on CHF were obtained The normalized periodic dryout heat flux, Fp, decreased significantly with increasing the dimensionless amplitude of oscillation, Δgmax/Gavg. And the Fp corresponded to a lower limit, Flim, at large Δgmax/Gavg. The Flim increased with the decrease of τ or Gavg. The normalized continuous dryout heat flux, Fc, decrease significantly at τ=10s, Δgmax/Gavg>1. The system pressure has no remarkable effects on Fp and Fc.
