The Experimental Study of The Single Molten Metal Droplet Breakup in Coolant
The vapor explosion caused by fuel/coolant interaction (FCI) was one of the severe accident in reactor plant. And it was paid more attentions by all over the world. The interaction of single molten metal droplet and coolant was thought a way to study the essence of vapor explosion. This paper studied the breakup essence by using the single molten metal droplet dropped into coolant in order to recover the essential of vapor explosion. This study showed that for the case of Marangoni effect,Rayleigh-Taylor instability,Kelvin-Helmholtz instability and critical weber number, the increase of metal temperature and dropping velocity improve the breakup; the increase of the coolant temperature would decrease the breakup.
