Relay Protection Setting Calculation System in Distribution Networks

With continuous development of distribution power network,the higher reliability of distribution system is required. Fault and its impact must be reduced to ensure reliable power supply in the operation of distribution network,so the relay protection is paid more and more attention. The existing relay allocation and settings systems are mostly suitable for high voltage power network and cant adapt to distribution network very well,because the distribution network is quite different from high-voltage network in topology,component properties and operation mode. The development of relay setting calculation,existing problems and limitations are Summarized. Practical problems of sections current protection are studied,combining the practical conditions and characteristics of relay setting calculation in distribution networks. Considering the user’s needs,a graphical protection setting calculation software system based on database was designed and developed suitable for distribution power network. Database module which exchanges data with other modules of the system was set up,and is accessed and operated through ADO technology. Graphical interface for drawing the wiring diagram of distribution system and object-oriented graphics components were designed with MFC class library,which realized visible operations. Based on analysis of distribution network fault calculation principle,fault calculation module was design and developed,which realized fault analysis of network. Principles and cooperative relationship of sections current protection,system operation mode and ring network handling were emphatically analyzed,and a setting calculation algorithm was designed. Setting calculation module was developed that realized manual setting and automatic setting of sections current protection,and the setting results have good cooperation and coordinative relations. At the same time the system can provide reasonable and detailed calculation list and results list,and a friendly working environment with good practicability,generality.
