Analysis on burning failures with 110kV dry-type reactors by salinity accumulation
Two times of burning failures with 110kV ACF dry-type reactors happened in ±500kV Gaoling Converter Substation because of the salinity and dirtiness accumulation. The first time happened with No.5642 ACF group at Northeast Grid side and kept burning for 2h when the dry-type reactor was totally damaged. 12 days later No.5632 ACF group at North Grid side burned and resulted in all the noise-absorbing sponge on the sound-proof cover ruined. After an investigation, the sponge accumulated the salinity airing from the near sea and got a reduction of insulation capability accompanying with humidity. The sponge burned by discharge with high voltage. After the sponge was totally removed the reactors have been working safely for one year.
