Effect of Mg-based Additives on the Sulfur Retention of Coal Briquette
Clean coal briquette is one of the most eff ective techniques because of the addition of sulfur retention agents in coal briquette making it can fix sulfur in coal residuals during coal combustion.Because of Ca-based sulfur retention agents used usually having no contributions to the strength and waterproof of coal briquette and other ingredients need to be added additionally in the coal briquette,which causes ash contents increased and the combustion properties became worse.Mg-based additives,however,not only have the properties of adhesive and waterproof but also play the role of sulfur retention,which can decrease the amount of additives in the coal briquette.The behaviors and mechanisms of sulfur retention for Mg-based additives were studied in this paper.The results show that: (1) MgO additive shows lower sulfur retention rates because of the product of sulfur retention being unstable.The addition of CaO improves the sulfur retention greatly and coal gangue added further improves the value.(2) A new substance denoted CaAl2Si2Al2O10 from Al-and Si-types of substances in coal gangue maybe cover or pack the surface of the sulfur retention products inhibiting the products from decomposing and then improve the sulfur retention rates
